Let's not forget that a year before he won the 200m at the World Youth Championships, he won the same event at the World Juniors. Has anyone ever done that before, in any event--win the WJ before winning the WY?

i was thinking a similar thing with semenya winning worlds this year and she can still run world junior meet in moncton next year as she was born in 1991.

a little off subject, but a similar thing in that an athlete wins at a higher level and either can or does compete at a lower level world meet next year.

Of the opinion that his manager should see the light and step away, thus allowing Bolt to get a real Internationally exposed person. Noway a guy bringing over US $300 mill worth of exposure should be paid 1.5 million per year. That's monkey money compared to Bolt's worth, then they just throw a cherry on top inthe form of a 3 series. Peart should just realize that he has gone as far as he can go. Today digicel awarded him a prize money of 100,000!! Mr. Peart please......I'm begging you....

Labron out of high school got 90 million from nike, just to show some perspective.

"perspective" is irrelevant: track ain't the NBA and will never remotely be so.

I really am beginning to think you are more cynically against the sport than for it, much like some parents who scold their kids more than they would other people's kids.

Business tells you that If I up your portfolio to the extent that you save over 300million for advertisements by vertue of my sweat and work then I should demand more than 1.5 million or at least a new contract other than the one that was signed before my 300million potential was envisioned (lacking on Peart). Does not have to be tracks or Football or Basketball. Its a"big business" you know!! Who cares about track!!!

A lot of the attention Bolt brings is beginning to transcend Tracks much like many other athletes, there I go focusing the perspective again.

Sure Paul Doyle would disagree with you.

Bolt brings no more "attention" to track than did Carl Lewis, Michael Johnson, or Marion Jones. He is immensely popular WITHIN the track community, and has that novelty/curiosity appeal that makes the non-enthusiast stop and look. But I really doubt that he's going to revolutionize the appeal of the sport to the common folk.

At the end of the day, and foregetting tracks deficiencies in pulling money, isn't it an imbalance that on of the World's top 5 sportsfigure known to the world only gets 1.5 per year when he gave his company 300 million of worth in one year?

MR J I will argue no further until you compare for me, the shoes deals or sales associated and other endorsements with the ones you mentioned compared to that of Bolt. That's the only way I will discuss popularity. Not based on your opinion!!!

Show me a "legit" list (not someone's blog) that ranks Bolt as one of the top 5 sports figures in the world.

This is your post and your opinion. If you look at what I said, It has nothing to do with what you are telling me here. Bolt does get alot of attention outside of what he does on the track(eg. recovering from a bimmer crash showing the level of safety of the car). How it is relative to the others you need to show me with some facts. I am willing to listen
