Why is Laura Gerraughty missing from the worlds entry lists?

At the risk of stating the obvious, bad wrists and bad knees are not a good combination for a shot putter. :cry:

Bad for all throwing. Probably PV as well. With knees part, all athletics would seem to be problimatical.

Could be, but it could also be on the lateral retinaculum. She'll probably get a lot of swelling and/or bleeding on the joint, post-surgery (so says my physio gf!)

Jumping ahead, we now know that her wrist problem was cured and she came back well. But now we won't see her at all in '07.

"Lateral release surgery" on both knees (one just before Xmas, the other shortly thereafter). Apparently coming back from such is very difficult, but she's going for it.

Jumping ahead almost exactly a year to the day, nobody has seemed to notice that while Gerraughty is one of the leading weight throwers, her name appears nowhere on any shot lists and she will be missing from the NCAA in her collegiate-record event.

As explained in the new issue of T&FN (already in the mail), she has an ongoing wrist problem that may keep her from putting ever again :-(

North Carolina throws coach Bryan Blutreich told me that competing in Budapest the week before NCAA's would just be too much.

I asked her this on the victory podium in Boston and she said she had to skip the Worlds.

I would guess (having no information about the issue) that with the NCAA meet next week, a side trip to Budapest would make for a hard double. Laura was able to compete at USATF as the ACC meet was the previous week.

I see that Laura Gerraughty's name is missing from the USA world indoor roster although it was initially included. Anyone knows why? School?
