  • Why print media is doomed

Having some printed material arrive AFTER it's OBE deadline is deadly. In the latest edition of Track Coach, a very good periodical I subscribe to, an article by a USATF Level II coach in sprints/hurdles/relays ends his article with the sentence:

Not knowing the final make-up of these 4x1 relays in Berlin, I will boldly precict that the USA men's and women's teams will defend and retain their World Championship titles won in 2007 Osaka, Japan. The sprit of Jesse Owens will inspire them to great baton exchanges. Otherwise, it's back to the drawing board for Mr. Logan and USATF.
I don't blame the author for not foreseeing the total debacle we were subjected to in Berlin, but I find it interesting that for all the lip service Mr. Logan gave to accountability before the WC, there was nothing but 'We're OK' afterward.

edit - yes, I did realize that 'media' is a plural, but it has become a de facto collective singular, so I'll stay with 'media is'. ;-)
