Do you guys intentionally wait till the last second, just to see who's paying attention?

      210 points possible???

The contest info states that 210 points are possible. However, 12+11+10+9...etc...equals only 78. Huh? I don't get it. Somebody please give this newbie a clue. Thanks.

78 is correct. Too much cutting and pasting on my part.

And no we don't wait for the last second just to make it harder. Having the actual entries or a formchart is key to running the contests and they usually don't go up until late.

          Re: 210 points possible???

I think this is a very hard contest because there are so few data points to extrapolate from. One would think that indoors would be easy cuz there's no weather differences to factor in, but I think that tracks and venues can still be substantially different (banking, surface, etc.) indoors. I entered the Athletic Links contest already, but my entries ended up looking suspiciously like the IAAF lists in many cases. There are people entered that WILL be factors at the OG, but, for many reasons, will NOT be factors in Budapest. We'll see - I pride myself on knowing a lot about T&F, but this is much more of a crap shoot than outdoors.

I just entered mine and, boy, do they look good. By the end of the meet though, I'll finish again, like 300th. :-(

                Just saw this on Eurosport:

Sweden's reigning indoor world high jump champion Kajsa Bergqvist withdraws from this weekend's indoor world champs in Budapest

                      What don't you get?

Pick 12 people you think will win their event and order them from what you believe is the highest likelihood of winner to lowest likelihood of winning.

                      I hope that helps.

                      Ben

Re: World Indoor Champs Prediction Contest

The contest really is not about picking winners and medalists - it's to pick who is the most likely to win A gold medal across all the events. So if Mutola is most likely to win, pick her as your #1 winner (you'll get 12 points if you are right. Down thru the next 11 picks. For example, you pick Feofanova to be the 12th most likely to win her event. If she does, you only get 1 point. Silly, but fun.

Re: World Indoor Champs Prediction Contest

Thanks Gardener, secured my 7 points. None of my other picks had finals today but those in semi's/qualifying had no problems.

I'm feeling good about my picks:

                          12) 800m W - Mutola
                          11) 400m W - Nazarova
                          10) 60mH M - Johnson
                          9) 60mH W - Devers
                          8) HJ M - Holm
                          7) 60 M - GARDENER!!!!!!!!!
                          6) Shot M - Cantwell
                          5) 3000 M - Lagat
                          4) LJ M - Stringfellow
                          3) TJ M - Olsson
                          2) 3000 W - Adere
                          1) 1500 M - Heshko

A few risky picks but I feel confident at this point.

Well I have 20 points at this point and am only confident that should keep me out of last place.

Yeah, same for me. I only put Gardener in the 5 slot, and am kind of kicking myself for not placing him higher. He's been running really well this year, but I just couldn't get over my fear that one of the Americans would pull the upset.

Soliciting opinions: I picked Kluft in the LJ (but down low, in the 2 slot). Am I crazy, or does anyone else think she's capable of winning an open event?
