  • IAAF in financial trouble?

With World XC going biannual (GH saying its about the $$) and a rumor I heard about the RW Challenge going away because of the $$ issue as well, it begs the question. How financially stable is the IAAF right now and what effect will this have on the future of our sport?

I heard rumblings about belt-tightening in Berlin, but nothing about "financial trouble."

In these unsettled times, hard to imagine any business (other than drugs) that isn't feeling the pinch.

If the RW Challenge is going away, one might suspect that Multi-Events could share the same fate (I've not heard that; nor had heard about the Walks until now; just guessing), given that while both bring "equity" to often-orphaned events, like XC they're probably not doing much to pay their own way, and this could just be reality checking in after the Nebiolo regime's empire-building phase.

Given the state of the world, it is hardly surprising that IAAF is tightening its belt. Are they self supporting, donor supported, or some combination of the two?

I'm sure they'd accept donations, but who would give them one? They're a commercial enterprise.
