Not a bad women's 100m field all things considered.

But right now Jeter is obviously running on a different level than the rest of them.

    She won by .52

Judging by their times, Lauryn and Felix must be exhausted.

Nice to see AP racing to the line in a race he did not win. He would have gotten another sub-10 is it had not been for the headwind.

Indeed. AP ran at least 95 of it. Gay looked rough at the start but was very close at 30m, when he started to edge ahead. I love to watch the two side by side because of the differences in their races.

This is certainly not good for AP's psyche.

            Its like Affirmed and Alydar.

AP is getting his heart broken, meanwhile he is trying to hold that sickly looking smile on his face for hte camera.

Sad times but he's padding his bank account.

He ran 100.1m of it; he was still pushing with a hard lean at the finish. Despite not getting his typical advantage at the start, AP was still close right at the end. I do not think that he quit at all, not 5m worth or 0.5m worth.

Seriously... Am I the only one shocked at that burst of speed at about 70m by Jeter. Someone needs to start doing splits on this girl because I dare say she is getting FASTER in her last 30 than actually decelrating.... And to beat her closest rival by .52s... am sorry, that just looks wrong.

Will she run indoors? I think she has a shot at Privalova's WRs of 5.96 and 6.92. They need to clock her at 50, 55 and 60m.

                      No.....

No one accelerates their last 30 meters....I saw the race, her top end and speed endurance is supreme to all others in the field.

Will you guys please stop proliferating the myth that she accelerated the last 30. I have watched that race and I do not see it. She maintains well and the camera movement changes but you are merely throwing mud at this point, with your it just looks wrong talk. That's because it is not true and merely your imagination.

                          Her closest rival ran 11.3.
Jeter is a sub 11 Athlete.
She ran subpar to her recent times but just destroyed a weak field, nothing wrong with that.
I thought she had a burst aswell, but i think its just the camera movement.

No one speeds up in the last 30m. What everyone is seeing is relative motion (i.e. how each sprinters' speed is measured relative to each other). Jeter is just slowing down less than the others. For example, suppose Jeter's acceleration is -0.1 m/s^2, but everyone else's is -0.2 m/s^2. Jeter's acceleration RELATIVE to the others is

                            -0.1 - (-0.2) = -0.1 + 0.2 = +0.1 m/s^2

It looks like she's accelerating away from them, but she's not actually accelerating. As Smoke said, it's your imagination (well, more appropriately an illusion).

Can't someone do an analysis of the video for some splits and put this argument to bed?
