  • Pyhyda, Vynohradov banned for doping

Ukrainian athletes Nataliya Pyhyda and Yevheniy Vynohradov have been banned for 2 years for doping.

Pyhyda returned a sample positive for stanozolol at the Reims GP in France on 14 July.

Vynohradov's sample taken out of competition contained nandrolone and he was banned from 7 July.

(Flumpy right again! - remember his comment in the OG 200 thread)

        I'd forgotten all about that.

I particularly love Eldrick's comment directly beneath mine.

Will people never learn??? Just don't question the 'Umps on these matters.

        We're ALWAYS right!!!!

Do we know who coaches them?

Pyhyda is coached by V. Klymenko (or she was in 2007 anyway - later results don't list coaches) and Vynohradov by M. Melnychenko. Not heard of either of them. Both athletes are from the Kiev region.

However, with SBs of 23.76 and 52.22 and given 3a's comment about her physique changing in 2008, it's quite feasible that she was clean that year so she may have a different coach now.

Hopefully just the same surname as Hanna?

Hanna is from the Poltava region, and anyway lives in Italy with Frullani now. I am as confident she is clean as I am that Willy is, which is very. Plus the throws aren't Hanna's strongest events, especially the SP.

As an aside, I've just looked at the 2007 NC results on the UAF site and found that JTer Lyakhovych refused to submit to a test after winning her event, I wondered why she wasn't selected for Osaka with an A standard while runner-up Ivankova was with a B (she got an A in the Osaka Qs) but just thought she was injured, she didn't compete again in 2007 but she did in 2008 (63.23 NR at the NC but DNQ in Beijing) while I'd have expected her to get a 2-year ban and therefore miss 2008 if she'd been DQed in 2007.
