Of all of the pictures of the men's WC 50K walk available for publishing, T&FN chose one of the eventual winner with neither foot touching the ground on page 19 of the latest issue.

What is the message? Because they had to have noticed it. That's where I look every time a see a race walking picture; I look at their feet and knees. It's like a game.

Maybe I'm being too extreme. Maybe racewalking judges turn a blind eye to the "occasional" lift, but flag the consistent, blatant transgressors.

And if Mr. Kirdyapkin reads T&FN, is he embarrassed by said picture? Or are he and his racewalking buddies having a little chuckle over it?

I saw that and my reaction was . . . seriously . . . most walkers in mid-course, at top speed, DO lift.
