  • VCB splits with long-time coach Lance Brauman

"It has been a great run with coach Brauman over the last six years, but I feel it's time for a change," Campbell-Brown told the Observer in an exclusive interview from Atlanta, USA on Wednesday.

The Jamaican sprinter, who remains the only athlete to win 100-metre titles at the world youth, junior and senior levels, disclosed that she and husband Omar would now be working with Atlanta based-coach Anthony Carpenter.

"Coach Brauman has done a good job getting me two individual Olympic Gold medals, but the time has come to move on. I felt the need for a change," added the 27-year-old sprinter.

In addition to coaching Campbell-Brown in her professional endeavours since 2004, Brauman also conditioned the talented Jamaican sprinter during her years at Barton Community College.
"I'm looking forward to continued success at the international level as I work with Coach Carpenter," she reasoned.

ORLANDO, Fla — Double Olympic 200-metres champion Veronica Campbell-Brown has split with long time coach Lance Brauman, the Jamaica STAR reported on Thursday.

According to the paper, a close source to both parties confirmed the separation, although Campbell-Brown’s manager Claude Bryan did not confirm nor deny the reports, stating: “I can not divulge anything on that at this moment.”

My most diplomatic answer is that; its an evening tabloid. Next thing is; if the headline reads " Duppy boxes man" or "Goat gives birth to baby" well......

I have never seen a headline like that in The Star. So I guess last week when the Star reported that WADA had requested the case files of the athletes who returned adverse findings, that information would be under suspicion too?

Shearer, I'm gonna be a gentleman and offer you the opportunity to set that statement straight before I accept your challenge to a duel. You know what the star is about. Check the friday center spread and see. You know in your heart of hearts that its worth waiting to see in the Gleaner or later tonite in the midnight roll of the Observer.

I am going to put on my top hat and monacle and walk away like johnny Walker.

P.S. ...but my immaculately white gloves are safely tucked under my arm!!

I think this split is not that surprising, because VCB didn't get a gold at this Champs, and she's used to winning at least one!

Is he the coach who also looks after Tyson Gay?
My heart is still in the Caribbean....

Veronica has confirmed the story. Her new coach will be Atlanta based-coach Anthony Carpenter.

Lets all wish her the best of luck.

VC has toe and other injuries last year, thus, she was not in the same shape she was in in 2008.

Does anyone have any information on her new coach, Anthony Carpenter?

Where he's coached, what events and what other elite athletes?

                          Thanks in advance.

I'm sure much thought went into this between her and her husband. Obviously Lance has proven to have been a very successful coach for Veronica over the years. We'll see what the change produces.
