As in past years the Snob Rankings are very . . . well . . . snobbish.
First of all, only the biggest meets count and they are ranked by how fast the comp is, who showed up, how close they are to the WC. In the head-to-head consideration, lower places count less than higher placers, so finishing 6th and beating the 7th guy is not as significant as beating him when he's second.
The top meets, in order were:
1. World Champs (of course)
2. Zurich GP
3. WAF
4. USATF (obv. only for Amis)
5. Brussels GP
6. Monaco GP
7. Rethimno (lots of good guys happened to show up and it was in late July)
So who ranks where?
1.Brathwaite – not only 1st at the WC, but WAF and Brussels, 3rd at Zurich and Reth
2.Trammell - 2nd at WC, Zurich, USATF
3.Payne - 3rd at WC, won USATF and 4th at Zurich
4.Thomas - 1st at Zurich, 2nd Brussels, 3rd WAF and Monaco, 7th at WC
5.Robles – wins at Monaco and Reth (beating Brathwaite) count for something
6.Sharman - 4th WC and Brussels
7.Faulk - 2nd WAF and Reth
8.Brown - 2nd Monaco, 3rd Brussels
Feel free to (erroneously and pigheadedly) disagree ! :-)
