Thumbing through the issue (no time to read today), I was struck with the odd body positioning of HJ prodigy Andra Manson over the bar (page 18 photo). Was he just fooling around at a low height or is that indicative of his technique? His body is straight as a board as he clears the bar. The 'Prep Preview' section looked great.

Re: March T&FN
If I can catch him at the Texas Relays, I'll report back to you. However, my wife is due to give birth just three days after the Relays, and she was two weeks early with our first child, so I might not make the Relays at all. :-)"Run fast and keep turning left."

Re: March T&FN
tafnut, You are describing what I saw in Vancouver last year. Manson jumped 2.15 but he did it in slow motion. He was so slow in the run-up that a curve was out of the question. He walked, jogged in a straight line. He just hung over the bar straight. I just thought he was warming up at first but he kept jumping that way.
Enormous spring, no doubt, but it was weird.
I understand they are working on speed in the run-up at Texas. The guy is some talent.

Re: March T&FN
That's exactly how he won the World Junior title in an american junior record 2.29. Andra was extremely weak and could not come in with any speed due to his knee buckling. He is stronger now and they are working on his run-up this year. Interestingly enough Andra is a very fast runner out of blocks so once his takeoff leg gets strong enough to handle big loads he is going to jump some crazy heights.

Re: March T&FN
If you'd like to see an actual movie of him jumping go the Texas Longhorn's website and you'll see him jumping (2.27) also I believe they have a jump of (2.29) there also.
