Rock on Perdita! You have truly shown the world you are force to be reckoned with. To anyone who thought the outdoor title was a fluke ......

To have beaten the GREAT Gail Devers, you are now THE favourite going in to Athens. Now, if Canada only could produce more cash for the rest of our athletes!

Canada has at least 2 other young hurdlers who have the potential to be as fast as Perdicien. One is Priscilla Lopes, already at 7.28/8.04, she's only 21. The other is Yvonne Mensah, coached by Perdita's coach Gary Winckler - if she ends up as quick as her older sister Philomenah (7.03/11.03) then look out. She is still a junior and just took up hurdling last year, has run 7.40/8.29 this year.

Yvonne Mensah is not related to Philomena. Yes she is a huge talent, but another one worth mentioning is Anglea Whyte who is 23 and has run 12.78, and has also scored 5700pts in the heptathlon. Canada is loaded with big potential 100 hurdlers.

Pretty sure she is on the front page of every newspaper in Canada today. Here is a sample.

        Specifically this is the pic:

Thought I would use the edit function to get her name spelled right in the thread name.

I've always found amusing the Sun's use of a large type headline completely unrelated to the cover picture. Makes for some interesting connotations, some more palatable than others.

Everyone knows that and that fact is in all the media reports up here. Any nationalistic display of pride is not at the expense of anyone so I'm not sure what your point is. Actually, if you want to get technical about it-her first successes were in the high school system not the club system which is also a source of discussion periodically.
