  • Runner's goals: Win Olympic 400, 800 and 1500

Chris Mitchell-Horton is a runner in Northern California with his own site:
    http://www.chrishortononline.com/index.html

He's in his late 30s and says his career goal is "to be the first athlete in history to win the 400 meters , 800 meters and 1500 meters events at the same Olympics."
    http://www.chrishortononline.com/profile.html

    He lists these PRs:
    http://www.chrishortononline.com/profile.html

    100 meters 10.1 seconds
    200 meters sub 20.0 seconds
400 meters sub 45.0 seconds (unofficial)
800 meters sub 1:46:00 seconds (unofficial)
    5K 20:0 minutes
    10K 42:0 minutes
    Half-marathon 1:30:0 minutes
    Marathon 3:49:0 minutes

    My question:

Does anyone have confirmation for any of this?

800 meters sub 1:46:00 seconds (unofficial)
      5K 20:0 minutes
Anyone that can do 1:46 should find 20:00 5000 a walk in the park. A 1:49 entering freshman at Wisconsin ran 15+ for a 5000 on the XC course as a workout, which would be race-ready 14 5000.

What?!! You don't trust my hero Chris?

I'll have you know that I dragged him to that sub -20 into a 3.5 m/s headwind and I had to fight so hard to hold him off that I knew, I just knew, at that very moment, that he would go on to outclass me and win Olympic medals in a manner that would redefine this entire Millenium!!!

After that race, I retired from the sport because I had seen its future and it was not me......it was Chris Mitchell-Horton-Yahweh-Muhammad-Confucius-Zeus-Xenu-Buddah.

Well, he and I are gonna cross paths twice, 'cause I'm thinking 800, 1500, and 5000 in London.

Nothing wrong with dreaming, but someone ought to wake him up.

Only recent meet seed times: http://athletics.sfsu.edu/women/track-f ... rfList.htm

            4/11/08
Event 28 Men 1500 Meter Run
            67 Mitchell-Horton, Chris Unattached 4:45.00

Event 32 Men 200 Meter Dash
            60 Mitchell-Horton, Chris Unattached 24.00

Meet results show he didn't run: http://www.directathletics.com/results/track/8219.html

Nothing available to find on google or direct athletics sites for other competitions. Sounds about as real as that guy who wanted to make the olympics while training in prison. Sadly, this guy will get more mainstream press than any american athlete with a legitimate shot at making the team for 2012.

I hope not. The guy is either a total fraud or is utterly delusional. His site lists a dozen sponsors--I wonder if they realize what they are associating themselves with (if, indeed, they are aware that they are being cited as "sponsors").

Interestingly, he isn't even consistent in his nonsense.

My days are consistent in that each day begins with a training session somewhere between the hours of 1:00AM-7:00AM. It is during these quiet hours where most everyone is sleeping that I love to run, lift weights, take abdominal and spin classes as well as perform my flexibility exercise.

7:00AM-8:30AM is when I take my kids to school
9:00AM-4:00PM is generally when I work
5:00PM-8:00PM are the hours in which I train
9:00PM-10:00PM is about the time I eat dinner and try to relax
              10:00PM-1:00AM is when I sleep
              Absurd!

He's not in the least delusional. I too have olympic goals. I'm going after the long, triple, high jump olympic trifecta and I'm even older than he is. (of course I'm talking about the standing versions of these events which I expect to be reinstated any day now).

hmm??? his times fall off pretty drastically beyond 400m.. not PB given for 1500.. I think he is going to have to give up some of his three hours sleep and train harder.

If he focused on only one event then maybe he could get a lane at the trials.

Who lists their actually pb prefixed by "sub"? :?

I'm not suggesting that this guy -- or anyone -- could accomplish this feat, but just for curiosity's sake, could someone who has the Beijing OG schedule post what such a competition schedule would look like for an athlete trying to do this? Thanks.
