Anyone that can do 1:46 should find 20:00 5000 a walk in the park. A 1:49 entering freshman at Wisconsin ran 15+ for a 5000 on the XC course as a workout, which would be race-ready 14 5000.
From a sprinter's point of view, I look at the times from the 100 meters to the 400 meters and think to myself, "that 20-minute 5K would be hard to run." However, I ran a 17-minute 3-mile run before (13 years ago), but was only able to run a 19:45 5K two years ago. The funny thing about that 5K time, I actually won the race by 16 seconds.

      Looks doable.
Piece of cake. I'll bet a couple dozen guys go for that triple.

See, when athletes say "people told me I couldn't do it" and "nobody believed in me" they have no choice but to "prove people wrong." Shame on you posters for not showing any faith. It's people like you who supply athletes the necessary motivation to do incredible feats. Shame!

Didn't you just contradict yourself? You said it's we skeptics who give athletes their motivation to do great things, but then we should be ashamed of ourselves??!! Aren't we the very ones responsible for their greatness?

I may have some information that will help explain how Chris is going to accomplish his Olympic goals. If you will all look at the picture in the original message, you will plainly see that Chris plans to run in Vancouver in 2010 as well as London in 2012. Spreading his races out over the winter and summer games should provide him plenty of recovery. I predict at least a lower sub-45 in the 400 as well as some other lower sub-times, weather permitting in the winter games of course.

Marlow, my entire post was in jest. Surely you caught the satire, didn't you?

                    You're right. ops:

I regret my scepticism. Here's to the power of optimism, dreams, and a rich fantasy life!!!

                      Nah, just old.
True, we use to do five, six, seven events in one day but the quality of performance tended to deteriorate as the day drug on. And, we did not
do it for eight consecutive days.
Actually, if the guy is for real, I admire his ambition and guts to follow his ardous schedule.

Considering that he had some goals in 2008 on that website, we see how close he is coming to achieving them. Good luck!

this time he deserves a little more scrutiny.
Why? There's nothing enjoyable about ridiculing a man to his face. Posting our skepticism here is one thing, but interviewing him for the purpose of our amusment is a little much, don't you think?

So embarrassing some guy by pointing out his inflated resume is out of bounds but you, just to feed some of your own personal inner needs by foisting your sense of morals on others, telling some guy to stop screwing around on his wife or else is fine. OK . . .
