The new SI has a terrific feature article about the McFarland (CA) High Cross-Country Team. It may be a bit overly dramatic in tone but it is still good reading. Added to the recent attention given to Pappas, Marion and others, SI has increased and improved attention to track and running sports. Good times!

I remember reading an SI article about some high school kid, during his summer break, running from Canada to Mexico...

Any one else recall that article??

This was around 1970 or so.
