I think the 5K will be more of a battle than the 3K. I feel like Cragg has already gotten that race wrapped up, u just can't deny a 7:38.x race earlier in the year when he was only 2 races into the season!

3k completely depends on tactics that are used. If it is slower than 7:45 I'd put my money on Willis. If it is faster than 7:45 my money is on Cragg.

In my mind, barring a significant return to form from Dathan R., Cragg has the 5k wrapped up. The 3k, on the other hand, will be interesting for a few reasons:

        1) Cragg and Willis will be running their 2nd races
        2) Cragg has good finishing speed, but Willis has shown in very tactical races that he can KICK

The mile race appears to be wide open given the quailifying times. I've never seen so many within 2 secs of each other. Really could be anyone's race, especially if tactical.

            Heat 1 Prelims

2 451 Taylor Milne JR High Point 4:02.18

Not to bring it up, but I recall a few years ago GJ ran 3 sub-4s in 24 hours at NCAAs. Cragg may have the 5K and 3K wrapped up due to his strength, tactical aptitude, speed and NCAA credentials.

Just based on numbers, I agree -- that 5K should be more competitive. That's why I picked Cragg in the contest in the 3K, but not the 5. He just looks like more of a sure thing in the 3.

I have no personal interest in who wins, but a 3:56 Mile gives you a lot of room to play with in any event.

Men's 3K should be fantastic. Cragg could be tired if they push him in the 5K. Willis will only have the DMR mile in his leg.

Warhurst said he wants his DMR leadoff, Brannen, to get out quick, hopefully 2:52. Says Willis can run 3:55-6. CR in their sights.

The women's 5k might be the performance of the meet. The men's 5k and 3k will probably next AC performer of the meet and another title for the Hogs, but the most exciting race of the meet will most likely be the finals of the men's 800 with at least 4 men who could strike gold. We've got kickers, front runners, and a slew of great racers. Wish I were on my way to the Tyson Center right now!
