        all time best countries in the marathon scores based on tilastopaja top 100 all time list

        japan, morrocco, and south africa 4 each
        usa is tied with 3 countries with 2 each
        it currently takes sub 2:07:32 to make all time top 100

        women
        japan-20

        ethiopia-15
        russia 11
        kenya 10
        GB & romania 3 each
        USA tied with 6 other countries with 2 each.
        it currently takes sub 2:25:15 to make the all time top 100.

            Kenyan men have abandoned the 10,000m because there arent that many races being offered. Even Brussels ditched it last year. So they are turning more and more to the marathon even as early as age 19.

              American figures are slightly affected because a much higher proportion of the top 10 Americans run Boston and NY and those courses are demonstrably slower (and a few bad Chicagos, to boot).

                Interesting. Athough i would love to see the 10,000 in every big meet, thats not what the majority of track fans want, right? And who can blame them?

                The Pre meet "hides" their 10,000.

                  I did a similar analysis a few years ago for all distance events over the last 30+ years:

                  It really shows how and when Kenya exploded and how other countries have faded. Caveat is that I haven't rerun my scripts so it goes to 2007, but you'll get the general idea.
