Tajeda or Carruthers will probably battle it out for the bronze medal in Doha behind Jones and Lopes-Schliep, so I don't think it was that bad a race.
it was more the supporting cast i was commenting on.

Dibaba looked awesome, with Cheruiyot and Ejigu not too far behind either. Pity Dibaba mightn't be in Doha or Bydgoszcz.

There were some fantastic performances at this meeting!
Why is the subject of the thread still so negative?

        How about making it
Birmingham: Meadows 1:59 NR, Mekonnen 5th All time
        or something like that!?

...There were National Records flying in from everywhere.
There were THREE National Records in the pole vault alone!
(including one for the home crowd to cheer, and a pretty serious one from
          Murer, aka mini-Isi).

I quite like Colin Jackson as an analyst....

I find Sharman incredibly annoying, though.

After enduring NBC coverage of previous Olympics when I was in Jamaica, and being stuck in Barbados in 1984 and having to endure CBC (Canada) coverage of that Olympics, to me Cram and Jackson are much better....

Very happy to see the NRs from Jenny Meadows and Kate Dennison. I was getting a little worried that Meadows hadn't broken 2 minutes yet and thought she needed to if she really wanted to challenge for the gold in Doha. I also love it every time Dennison breaks a NR as there were some sourpusses who moaned about her being on funding 2 or 3 years ago when she hadn't taken off, so to speak. Since then she's improved over 20cm with hopefully more to come. So I love it when she does well.

Don't know how she looked, but 9:12, especially in a close race, is not in a class with Defar's 8:24. Dibaba is not ready to race Defar at this point.

                        Lagat got smoked, didn't he?
                        Cheers,
