Many (most?) European national federations demand testing for NR's in compliance with the explicit recommendation in the IAAF Rules to "adopt similar Rules for the recognition of their own records".
    But not the USATF???

Well, when Veronica Campbell ran 22.80 indoors in 2002 (Fayetteville), I bet everyone thought she was going to be blasting 22.5's..... but she didn't - that summer she ran 'just' 22.86, despite her great form (11.00).

But if you think... take the first 6 finishers of both the men's and women's 200m and 400m races - 24 athletes in all. 10 of those 24 set indoor PBs that were faster (or equal to) their outdoor bests!

That Fayetteville track is like Atlanto, Tokyo, Maebashi and Lievin rolled into one!!!

Other than Felix these are the only juniors ever to run faster than Richards OUTDOORS. And other than her 22.11 at altitude, Felix has never run faster than Richards' 22.49 outdoors. That was some performance in Fayetville.

Note, too, that there are no official world indoor junior records. Neither the IAAF nor USATF recognizes indoor junior records as an official record category.

IAAF requires specific dope test after meets for WR ratification; USATF does not require specific testing for AR ratification. Ergo, Felix can set AR without setting WR.

I'm just trying to get strait all the records Richards set last weekend. The 400 must have been an indoor WJR and indoor AJR. The 200 an Indoor AJR and 2nd outdoors to Felix's 22.11(A) that wasn't drug tested. All this and there was almost no mention in the press...What does the girl have to do?

    Without doping controls?

Felix's record was ratified as an AJR.

Felix's 22.11 not official?(no test) - so maybe Richards' 22.49 IS faster than outdoor AJR, surely for first time ever. (for what it's worth)
Or do AJRs not require test?

If a certain someone spent just a little less time yapping on the message boards, and tended to his REAL job, maybe he wouldn't be a YEAR behind in his work! Not that we're pointing fingers or anything.

I thought there was a problem with the ratification of that record?

Hey, we just updated the indoor records with last year's stuff, and now you expect the outdoor to be up to date as well?! :-)

Thanks, I was looking at the record list on the T&FN site and it still lists Marion Jones' 22.58.
