Why are there two H.S. indoor championships? Is it logistics, greed or what?

Re: One championship too many?
Never thought about it, but yes - there SHOULD be ONE official HSInC. Maybe keep it as is, with Nike and 'qualifier'/NYC, then the official championship(top 8?) the next weekend. Somewhere in Midwest. And have it televised nationally (a compact, action-intensive 1-hr program, which would have good hs-age viewership nationwide)

Right now the NSIC/NIC meet different needs for the runners. Adding a third meet a week later would (most likely) eliminate the "warm weather" athletes since their outdoor seasons have already begun. They just make it to the two meets now.
Why have it in the Midwest? The best tracks at in Boston, NYC, Fayettville for fast times. You would have to pay transportation/R&B/per diem. No one has deep enough pockets except NIKE, and they already sponsor a meet.
Right now, although not perfect, it is fine. Don't try and make a "national meet" for indoors when it is not necessary for high school athletes.
