Silke Spiegelburg is ill and withdrew from competition.

Hurdlers Alexander John and Helge Schwarzer both ran 7.65 in the heats, thereby meeting the qualifying standard for Doha. Same goes for Nadine Hildebrand (8.05).

Women's LJ: 19 years old Sosthene Moguenara successfully defended her title, setting a new personal best of 6.75.

Her previous PR was 7.99 when she dipped under 8 seconds for the first time in her career two weeks ago in Leipzig.

Meike Kröger 2m in the HJ!!!
Friedrich missed her first 2m attempt, but fired back with a perfect 2,02 clearance, she now goes for 2,06 WL ...

Martin Gunther, the 2003 World Youth champ, set a huge PB of 2.30m to win the men's HJ. His previous best was 2.24m and his SB before today was 2.22m. In his last comp before today, he jumped 2.14m!

Friedrich's first 2,06 attempt was great, it was hard to see why the bar fell, the following ones weren't equally good. But anyway Kröger managed to steal the limelight a bit from Friedrich. you could already see in Berlin that she has huge potential, but lacks the technical finesse.

After a sleepy indoor season with few highlights it was surprising to see this fireworks from Storl, Bartels, Günther, Kröger, Friedrich, Gadschiew, Hingst, Reif, Moguenara and Nytra.
