Why is a potentially GREAT 400m runner masquerading as a mediocre 100 / 200 m specialist? Anyone know who she is being coached by?

Re: Shalonda Solomon
Coach: Lance Brauman, iirc.
"...potentially "GREAT" 400m runner masquerading as a 100/200m specialist?"...
Nearly all of the top 100/200m runners are "masquerading", as you put it. But, I guess it matters how you determine "great". If "great" means sub-51, then every top sprinter; if it means sub-50, then probably all again. If great means sub-49 (which is what I would begin to consider a capitalized great)...then the numbers for woman sprinters as a whole goes down preciptously; however, I think there are at least 15 women over the past 20 years who could/should have been sub-49 great. Put it this way: any woman who is consistently sub-11.20 is a candidate for sub-49.50 and probable for sub-49.
There is a reason why Sanya is SO far ahead of her competition: she is the only "100/200m specialist" who has committed to the 400m.

Re: Shalonda Solomon
Solomon's technique lets her down in the 100m and 200m where technical specialists like Jeter are always going to ru way from her. She's had a history of injuries too which could be down to her form. In the 400m you can get away with having a less than ideal form as long as you're strong and fast.
SRR is strong and fast with great sprint form. Its that combination that makes her a 48.7 runner.
