A number of NCAA programs have been without - and will be without - the services of their top track and field athletes during the 2004 indoor and/or outdoor season(s), with many of the athletes redshirting in preparation for the 2004 Olympic Trials.
New to the list is Kansas 200m standout Leo Bookman. Otis Harris is also redshirting.
Some posters have been critical of the NCAA system burning out athletes and prospects entering the collegiate ranks. I give the coaches of these redshirts credit for helping their athletes decide on the best plan for the athlete:s long-term goals while keeping site of the university:s five-year short-term goals.
