Isn't the opening ceremony supposed to "open" the games? Why is it being held in the afternoon.

Janieve Russell (JAM) wins the opening girls 1oomh in the Pentathlon.

Goule and Campbell embarrassed the field. We need to send these kids to Kenya.

With a little competition he could have done it tonight.

Feel it for the Trini kid in lane 8 though. Had his hand up for a while. That race should have been called back. Not to take anything away from Kirani, but the starters did that kid a great disservice. Just wtf were they looking at!?

On a side note...what's going on? Jam taking all the field events this year.

CLUTCH CLUTCH performances from Chad Wright and Jonathan Reid. Well done boys!

Anybody think that if Kirani creeps closer and closer to MJ's record, that Bolt will take it on before 2013.

Kirani James is certainly clocking up some impressive performances....

                      I hope he remains injury-free.

Tilastopaja incorrectly has this as an "AJR", it's not, it's an NJR; the AJR is also the WJR, 43.87.

Let's let James get a LOT closer to the WJR before we begin talking about MJ's WR.

NO. And my, you're rather sensitive; that answers your question (which makes me wonder why you asked in the first place). IMO, James' progress, though notable, is nothing to put fear in Bolt...and it certainly doesn't put fear in Merritt, Wariner, et.al Why? Because Americans are USED to seeing it; it's not that new. Kirani James is currently 11th on the list of juniors (according to Tilastopaja, below), but even at 17...he's nearly a second and a half away from Lewis - who is more than .5 second behing MJ. Bolt, on the other hand, is only concerned about ...well, Bolt. If he isn't worried about Merritt and Wariner, then he certainly is not thinking about James.

Not sensitive, but it's amazing that people can't post a HYPOTHETICAL question w/o ppl getting all defensive. I'm well aware of where Kirani stands in the grand scheme of things.
