  • HS participation by event (Fla)

This is from the Milesplit (great site!) database, indicating how many athletes (or schools in the case of relays) are represented in the 2010 rankings (most FAT meets are in it).

Interesting to see where the numbers fall out. The PV is surprisingly high since fewer than half the schools even offer the event.

Important to keep in mind Florida has been in season much longer than most states - for example Ohio just opened last week, so event by event numbers for comparison purposes(right now) are useless. Not saying marlow was looking to do that, just a point to keep in mind if cross-checking states.

Not at all. I'm sure that Cal and Tex dwarf our numbers.

The NFHS annually releases participation information for each state: http://www.nfhs.org/content.aspx?id=328 ... temid=3282

You can't really compare event participation between states unless it's as a percentage of total track participants.

Yes, but my point was that I've never seen it broken down by event, which is why I found the Fla numbers interesting.
