I think we can get easily get lost in statistics and comparisons of ages ago. We have come far closer to human limits today than many of the athletes of prior eras ever were at to the opportunity for world records and multiple world records in my opinion, has greatly diminished.
It would be interesting to see how those athletes scored in every event in comparison to the maximum score that existed as evidenced by the world records at that time. So if you added up the world record scores that existed, say 11,000 and took a percentage that the athlete scored, say 8,400 for a 76.36% and compared to other athletes of different eras and see where they all end up.
