I won't compare Athletes but CARRIE RUSSELL is one of the most overlooked Female Sprinters , She is 2 Times Jamaica High School 100m Champion & also 2 Times CARIFTA U20 100m Champion , She ran a 11.27 ,0.0w @ Luzern last year( # 2 Jr.) & also had a 11.21, 2.5w , She had her Breakout as a 15 yr. old @ '06 WJC taking 3rd. in 11.36 but been injured the following yr. , She is a big , strong Girl & i say 11.00 - Sub 11.00 this year ..

Yes Sir...I feel so very proud right now. Just great to see them making the transition. Also feeling proud having picked her as the best of the 88-90 DOB pack. Carrie in my opinion will hit the pro road running having worked out the physical maturity change which often significantly affects female rookies. PLUS SHE IS SO STRONG!!!

Stride, join me onthe Women's prediction thread and we can gloat more about Carrie!!

Whatever happened to Jura Levy? Last I heard, she was at some college in the States.

That's the news I'm getting as well, I hope VCB takes her up and personally assists her career choices and progression. She is gonna need some strength work (muscle) though to add power to her superb turn over and striding on her small frame.

              Re: UTech Games

I get worried and tingly when I hear of great JA High school prospects going to Community Colleges, its just a very shaky gamble. I desparately hope she a has a strong support network also watching out for her personal development.

JURY LEVY ! Another "Overlooked" Jamaican Female Jr. Sprinter ,LOL, She was runner up to Carrie Russell @ Jamaica H.S Championships & CARIFTA where she ran a windy 11.33 (2.5w) behind Russell (her jr.PR 11.41'09) She won the CARIFTA 200m 200m 23.20 , 1.5w , PR , I think ppls writer her off beacuse of her Demunitive SAF like stature but she Showed @ South Plains CC (Tx.?) & so far as a Frosh. she ran 11.28 , 2.0w , PR @ Texas Relays for 3rd. behind MAYO & HENRY & also got a windy 11.19 ............ Re: UTech Games

Does anyone know where complete results of the UTech Games can be found? The meet results site is not showing any results and the local newspapers have very limited results reported, unfortunately.

Jura Levy or thunderthighs as I think of her is quite talented but seems already very well muscled. I am not as sold on her making the transition to the pros as some are. I'd love to be wrong though

                      Re: UTech Games

Hopefully, the UTech site will have updated times soon....

                      In the meantime, there's this:

                      http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/sport/Classic-18

"Running in lane three, Foster-Hylton, who secured Jamaica's first World Championships gold medal in the 100m hurdles in Berlin last summer, pulled up and crashed to the ground after 60 metres of the 100m. The affable sprint hurdler, who was locked in a keen battle with MVP training partner Simpson, grabbed at her left hamstring on her way down. Up to press time, MVP president Bruce James indicated that the seriousness of Foster-Hylton's injury was unknown. Olympic 100m silver medallist Simpson, who eventually won the race in 11.58 seconds, said she heard Foster-Hylton cry out before going down. Schillonie Calvert of Racers was second in 11.90. World Indoor 60m finalist Carter won the men's 100m in 10.24secs despite a massive negative head of (-5.0) ahead of Yohan Blake, 10.28."

Not bad by Carter and Blake, considering the conditions....
My heart is still in the Caribbean....

Thunderthighs...LOL . I always took her as toned (cut up legs yes) but compared to SAF of similar size I would love to see her get some pecs like SAF or arms like Jeter. With her tiny frame and already somewhat mastered the art of the turn over there really is little much to add to her package other than more strength. so to some extent your worries might be warranted

I see your point. But I happen to have some personal knowledge about South Plains and trust me their program is no joke. It's been a feeder school for Texas Tech were Shereefa Lloyd made her transition from the 100 to the 400 and onto the Jamaican national team after leaving Wayland Baptist, I believe.

Check South Plains' relay and open times this season. They're not yet a Barton CC where VCB, Tyson Gay, Aleen Bailey, LaShauntae Moore, Steve Mullins, Hyleas Fountain and number of other very good sprinters went, but they appear to be doing something right.

Don't sleep on some of these community colleges as some impressive talent has come through some of them.
