      Re: lagat

If he trained just for the 1500/mile im thinking 3:29/3:46 would be his top these days.

Forgive me for asking this, but is there any update on Mr. Webb's health and fitness?

Nothin to forgive, he's the American record holder. After some surgery he is training again.

              Re: lagat

By the way, training is going well post Doha. This last ten days in Flagstaff has included a 9 miler at 5:20 pace; a 8 x 90 sec hill (starting at 7000 feet finishing over 8000) with 60 sec jog back recovery; a 12 miler at 5:30-5:40 pace; ......and then back in Tucson 10 x 800 on grass (golf course) with 50 sec recovery. Won't be ready for his sharpest Mile in Drake next week however will be strong enough for a good race......

                didn't webb have achilles surgery???

as to lagat, i'd agree his faster days are behind, yet the 3:46 range should be within his reach...he was so fantastic indoors...

i take the 5k ritz mark as well within his reach....

give the mile a shot, each day he ages, chances lessen??

only problem now is some volcano gumming up the works....literally..

You are saying that he is climbing approximately 1100 feet in 90 seconds, doing it 8 times with a quick 60s downhill in between?

Lance Armstrong won the 15.5 km (I think that right) going from about 700m to 1850m) or about 3500ft in 38 minutes. I think he can climb on the bike faster than any runners can run it and I am getting over 10 minutes for every 1100 feet of climbing. Put another way, 1100 feet is over 0.2 miles vertical -- thus, at a 50% grade it would be about 1/3rd+ mile and we are to believe that he is doing this at 4min/mile speed?

The google thesaurus for PEDANT included 'nit-picker' and 'hair-splitter'. That sounds about right you dickhead (good australian term....). Why the hell would you bother writing that post 26mi235?

And people wonder why more people (who have comments to make that may be of interest) don't waste their time.....

How is this for a non pedant response: I am impressed. I don't know if this indicates speed, but it sure indicates fitness.

huh? I wrote it so that the clear nature of the inaccurate reporting might be noted. Where is an order of magnitude splitting hairs. He could not run anywhere close to that speed so maybe you could clarify instead of insult.
