  • Rain in Austin

Dang it. I know the chances of the dual meet between Arkansas and Texas getting a bunch of fans in the stands were never that high, but now rain is forecast all day here. I have a bad feeling that it will be just me in my raincoat in the stands.

Too bad, because the student newspaper and the American-Statesman (see link below) both had nice preview stories.

Dang it, the sun came out but the fans didn't. 55 people in stands, some athletes. Sigh. Maybe there are just too many other things to in Austin on a sunny spring day, but I would have liked to see more promotion of this meet.

As for the competition: Alain Bailey 7.99 in the lj.

On a positive note, we just set a new WR for the use of the phrase "dang it" in an internet thread :P

                That's a pretty soft record.

Cooter: Yeah, they didn't promote it well. I'm thinking of sending them a letter on all they did wrong. Seriously, track meets should hire me as a consultant on what fans want.

Is the "55 people" hyperbole to show how sparse attendance was, or is that really about the count?

No, that is precisely the number of people I counted by hand. Although I do admit to a bit of an undercount — I forgot to include myself, Jim Dunaway, and the kid from FloTrack in the total.
