    Re: NCAA mDec: 10:00 Thursday

If he had been just a smidgen faster in the 400 he would have four >1000 events already (although there are not more in the offing). He also does not have the help from the wind that Hardee did. Thus, while I agree with gh on the wind issue, if they are close in the final tally, the extra points he would have gotten would add quite a number of points in the 100/LJ/110h, although it is worth noting that windy conditions hurt in the PV and the 400. He will have to make big improvements to those 600s in the throws to make it to the top level.

41.71 for Eaton. A 5.10; 52; 4.38 could get him record. Still possible, but things look to hinge on 1500. Could be interesting, as he has done 4.20....when fresh.

Quoting gh, from an earlier thread:

We'll abide by the new IAAF stricture, which for now probably makes Pappas the standing CR holder.

we reversed course on that almost instantly, and are optimistic that the IAAF will be doing so as well.

Well, that would be something. The IAAF actually doing the right thing!

so, does he coast through for the win and try to save strength for the LJ tomorrow? It is really a shame about the PV. He had quite a competition going.

Highly improbable. He would need 55m in the JT and 4:30 in the 1500. I wouldn't bet on either and if I were Lanana, I would tell him to make sure he wins the deca and bring something for the LJ tomorrow. UofO could use a miracle like that.

The record is doable if he wants to attack the 1500m. If I were the coach I'd say go for it.

Awesome effort from Aston-what a gutsy guy.

Now-what did he throw in Jav? They still don't have it up.

he threw the jav 171-11 for 624 pts and finished with a total of 8457 just shy of Hardee's 8465
