She's been there for the longest...was initally declared but now is shown as open...my guess is that status is changing...doubt she runs.

Appears Marshavet Myers just showed up on the womens 100 meter list. Definitely helps the depth of a field that was looking kind of week at the top end.

This is not like my "special rule" rant from a couple years ago. I was genuinely curious when she had decided to run.

Not until a day or so ago. USATF has all sorts of deadlines: entry, declaration, etc. But there is always a safety net which allows for late entries/declarations with a penalty fee. And beyond that the deadlin for late entry/declaration lies an appeals process which incurs an additional penalty fee.

About the only time you can feel comfortable with a USATF start list is when the gun goes off for the first heat of that event.

wow! first I've ever heard of this. Sounds like a great way to weaken the Americas team to me! (and also the African distance squad)
I agree. The Continential Cup may repeat mistakes made by WAF - too late in the season, eliminating the best athletes while having no incentive for the best athletes to compete. I'll probably be watching the NFL.

Before injuries forced me to retire, I sold electronics. I was off work at Midnight, so after reading the paper, I would go to sleep around 2:00 AM. In a World Cup year I awakened around 10:00am to see how the US team had done. Not this year!

    Americas Team Athlete Selection Criteria:
    1. The 2010 Americas Team will consist of 2 athletes per
individual event however, only one athlete from any one country may
    compete in each individual event.
    2. Athletes must be eligible to represent their country in
international competition based on the Rules of Competition of his/her
    country and the IAAF.
    3. Athletes must be in good standing with their federation.
    4. Athlete must be a finalist in the individual event they will
contest at the Continental Cup in his/her country’s National
Championships with the exception of the 3000m which is not contested
    at most National Championships.
    5. Athletes will be chosen based upon the 2010 IAAF Senior Top
List Outdoors as of July 31 with the exception of the 3000m which
shall be selected from the IAAF Senior Top Indoor List as of March 31,
    2010
. Selection to the Team will be based on the highest ranked
athlete affiliated with NACAC or South America Consudatle per event.
    6. Athletes selected for participation on the Americas Team will
be contacted through their Federation on or around August 5th or 6th,
2010 and asked to confirm their acceptance of a position on the
Americas Team no later than August 8, 2010.
    7. Relays will be a mixed country team using some athletes in
individual events and some selected relay only personnel.

I am trying to gain clarification whether 3000m marks from oversized tracks count.

April Kubishta will not be competing. She's been struggling with Bell's Palsy for the past 4 months, and also has a case of tennis elbow.
