  • Div. 1 Male Track Athlete of Year

    Please justify why Wheating was given the Divison 1 Track Athlete of the Year over Ashton Eaton. Eaton was more dominate in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, as well as not being beaten in the multi events.

    no kidding;

    it's pretty hard to believe that they passed Eaton over - he is clearly the best athlete of ANY SPORT in Div. 1, and not just track

    not to take anything away from Weating, but come on.

        in general parlance, decathletes are lumped in as field athletes.

        If Eaton doesn't get field AOY, then you can kvetch (although Whiting not a bad choice either).

          I am with you. Whitting(SP) and Eaton's performances are 2nd in the world right now and Whitting has the discus to back it up. Eaton's LJ effort was left on the track in the 1500. I don't think Wheating's times are as strong.

          1) Whitting
          2) Eaton
          3) Wheating

          None of them have anything to be embarrassed about. Whitting looks stronger to me.

            Is it only based on outdoor? If indoor also would McNeill's 5000m double (+3000i silver) trump Wheating's outdoor double?

              Wheating did not have that bad of an Indoor, and McNeill would not have won Outdoors if he had doubled or if Sam C had not.

                  Is this outdoor only? If it is both indoor and outdoor, then Eaton was robbed.

                  A WR combined with winning both indoor and outdoor does lift him above Whitting.
