When will the final decision be made on who is actually going to USA Champs this year? Also, how many are they taking for the Dec? I am looking forward to see how things shake out. Is T and F News covering live results?

Anyone watching the US Open notice Johnny Miller's idiotic remark ? In briefly mentioning the upcoming Nationals, he conjectured as to whether Usain Bolt would be running.

        Re: USAs

Yea I heard that Johnny Miller comment. Too funny and hopelessly clueless about T&F - his second reference to Bolt BTW - he made some reference about a golf ball moving faster than Usain Bolt yesterday. But at least he knows the name of a track athlete and perhaps someone will tune into watch the trials because of Bolt though he would not be competing at the US trials and discover other athletes sort of like how I tuned into watch the golf game because of Tiger though I never play golf and 'discovered' Graeme Mcdowell and Dustin Johnson.

Was pretty excited til I saw the start list - no Gay, Clay, Hardee, Eaton, Angelo Taylor, Jeter, Solinsky, Ritz, Demps, Harper..to name a few I noticed missing!

            Not all is lost. Consider:
WC-level entries might make this the event to watch Did not think that I would see Hooffa needing to preform just to get fourth or Nelson needing a 1 meter SB to get up to 7th! The womens 100/200 allows the new kids to duke it out, a lot of 2:00 and below 800 gals (and Ajee Wilson the soph who anchored a SMed record with a 2:00 is listed as 'open' but may run the junior event which might be even more interesting); Rowbury's 4:00 is only third and Hasay's 'new star' is behind many other new stars. Also Lisa Koll battling Bagley on her 'almost' home track. Chaunte Lowe brings her new AR/WL while she also battles some veterans in the LJ, and Fountain will do the Hept against some as young as RS freshmen trying to move up in this event that takes years to master.

Noticed Rowbury and Flanagan are declared for both 5000m and 1500m. The 5000m final is Friday night and the 1500m final is Saturday afternoon. Are they going to be recovered in time for the 1500m or does it really not matter?

Shouldn't matter. The likely scenario is they both advance in the 1500 heats, in which case they scratch the 5000 and run only the 1500 final.

The 5k entry is almost certainly in place in case of flubbing the 1500 heats.

                          Re: USAs

I noticed Jordan Hasay on the start lists for the following:

                          Jr 3000 (24 June 1:30 pm)
                          Sr 1500 (24 June 5:50 pm)
                          Jr 1500 (25 June 11:55 am)

I guess I'll find out in the next day or two in any case, but does anyone know which of these she plans to run?

(And a related, generic question: Regardless of what Hasay chooses, is it possible for a qualified athlete to participate in both meets? Perhaps this happens regularly, but in my limited experience, I don't know of any cases.)

dj, is this (very) informed speculation, or have one or both of them stated that the 5k is just a back up.
