    Re: USATF: wJT

It seems Patterson had a big throw in 6th attempt; more than 66 meters!!

All she did was break the AR by 8'. Quite a throw, though there are stiff breezes today in Des Moines. OTOH, Yurkovich in second place threw well under her PR.

          Re: USATF: wJT

no American woman ever had more than two 200-footers in a day before: Patterson had 4. And had all-time performances 1, 4, 5 (and something like 16).

            And at the time the throws were 3 (became 4 then 5), (14 became 15 then 16), 3 (became 4), 1.

Now where did THAT come from. She seemed to be throwing well, but well as 60m, 66.67m is WAY out. Where is she among current (active) athletes (obviously still a big gap to "S")?

Nice interview with her on the ESPN broadcast. Kara was happy, to say the least.

4th best throw in the world this year, around 8' less than the world leader. In the aforementioned interview, she gushed that her new AR would get her invited to European meets as it surely will.

Any comments about whether wind helped/hindered throw? ESPN, of course couldn't show throw.

Would have been #5 last year.

I'll have to dig into the annual list, but I have her at 12th performer. Abakumova 68.89 and Spotakova had better this year, but were high on the list.

One of the problems with having long throws outside the stadium. TV isn't going to pay for another camera to cover those events.

Note that while the mark was originally announced as 218-9, the proper conversion from 66.67 is 218-8. The algorithm in the software gets it wrong from time to time.
