So Galen Rupp is running a 5K on August 19 in Zurich. According to Rupp and his coach Alberto Salazar Rupp is shooting for a sub 13:00 5K. So do you gyus think he gets it? If so what time do you think he'll run?

Yes I think he gets it and Solinsky gets AR. But, I think it depends upon race tempo being adequate and weather. I think Solinsky runs 12:52 and Rupp runs 12:55. -

He wasn't going to beat Solinsky, but had Rupp not fallen in Stockholm it's a good bet he would have dipped under 13 there.Comment

i had it written down as i was watching the race last week ill try to find it. he was in good position with the pack....the camera panned away to take a gander at TJ i think and then panned back and chris was there with galen no where to be found. if he would have connected something like 2 62's he would have easily been under 13 which isn't asking much for him.Originally posted by 4:24-milerComment

They cut away to Pit. JT that won that competition and took awhile to come back. The cutaway was at the 10:03 mark and he was about at the end of the curve (~3900m). Apparently he went down after about 4000m, so probably on the next curve. The 4000m split was not shown. He had been methodically moving up, at first by passing those that were dropping off the pace but near the end by moving past people into about 7th or so. I would guess that he was about 2 seconds off the leader at 400m but maybe it was just a bit closer than that.Comment

Well, Lagat has run sub-12:55 and he is known to have leg speed and to have won a major 3000 this year (indoor). He seems a lot more likely to break the AR than Rupp, though there is an outside chance that Rupp will get his second beating of the old AR without getting an AR (he have to console himself with those AJRs).Originally posted by 4:24-milerComment

7:30 is about 12:52 in terms of equity. Rupp's not at that level at this point. 7:30 is very very fast.Originally posted by 4:24-milerComment
