Doesn't look like Lagat will have lots of help, attacking the US record.

      Really??

Kiptoo ran 12:53.46 a week ago and would be favourite in my book...

I might be wrong, but I think Simotwo will likely rabbit. He did that for the Stockholm 5K with somewhat disappointing results(he was the second rabbit and slowed to 64s). He hasn't competed individually in a while. However, he can probably get them through in 5:02-5:05 somewhat evenly(I bet the instructions are for 5:00 even, which he will fall short of). I predict Farah (with adrenaline from the crowd) seizes the lead after than, and tries to push it on away from Lagat and Kiptoo. Ultimately, I think he gets caught , but runs a nice time.

What were the conditions? Looks like no one seriously attempted a record. Good to see Mottram back in there...

No there never was any record attempt. Have no idea where any discussion of that came from. It was a nice race; was set up to be moderate pace (Farah and Thompson ran doubles at Euros so the organiser had no interest in setting a 5 minute pace for 2000; the race was planned for something like 7:35 to 7:40 and it was a good, competitive race that the athletes enjoy running for a change.

Fast race (yes there is an eye on 7:30.84) always planned for next Sunday 22/8 in Berlin.

On "SuperSport.com", in an article about Dibaba's 5K win, we read:

"Other African wins on the days came through Abubaker Kaki (1:44.38) in 800m together with Kenyan’s Mark Kosgei Kiptoo (7:41.56) in 3000m, ..."

Once again I ask: "Who writes this stuff?"
                        Cheers,
