Felix seemed to lose concentration on a couple of occasions and had to come back on the Russian after leading almost all the way.

Felix 12, Montsho 8, Dunn & Firova 6, Williams 5. Many characters still in play, with 5 possible winners. Felix wins with a 1st or 2nd in Zürich.

              Dunn's having a good year.

It'll be interesting to see what happens next year in this event.

I'm sure Track Daddy has very strong feelings on what will happen next year! (and I agree with him)

Don't know if Felix is going to try try qualify for WC in the 400, because I refuse to look at that crazy schedule right now, but if she does then Dunn is going to have to find a way to get over not being able to run good whenever Felix is in a race. I think Dunn could have a 10m lead going into the last 70m of the 400 and she would find a way to loose to Felix.

Felix mentioned earlier in the year that she was going to try the 400 meters for the World Championships as well as her usual 200 meters. Felix is going to have to cut that time down though, especially if Sanya Richards returns next year and returns to what she was in 2009, when she was dominant.

Although she's having a good year, I wonder if Dunn will make the WC team in the open 400, given the return of Sanya and also the emergence of Fran.

Her chances of making the World Championship squad in the 400 meters is pretty high next year, unless she completely collapses and someone else emerges. Fran McCorory would probably take the 4th spot if she runs well next year. She would be an absolute lock in the 4 x 400 relays as well. Fran provides the only threat to Dunn behind Richards and Felix.

As things stand right now, the 4 x 400 relay team would probably be the same team from 09: Richards, Felix, Dunn and Lashinda Demus. McCorory would probably run the prelims.

A good time considering her doubling and a long season...but I think Felix can run mushc faster than that. I know her PR is more than a second faster and with her speed and strength see could run under 49.00. But may need more of a concentration on the 400m to do that.

Don't forget Monique Henderson in 2011, currently in hiatus.

Yeah. She has two Olympic medals. Didn't think she was still running though having not seen her run since 2008. How she does in 2011 will probably determine who's a part of the 4 x 400 relay team in 2011. Fran McCorory (if she runs well in 2011), Henderson, Mary Wineberg, DeeDee Trotter, Natasha Hastings, Jessica Beard and Monica Hargrove will all be in contention for spots behind Felix, Richards (if she's healthy and returns to her 2009 form) and Dunn. 2011 will determine who is the 4th best Womens 400 meter sprinter in the United States is.

Dunn would have to have an epic collapse and someone else would have to rise up for her not to get a World Championship spot for next year. But other than Dunn, Richards and Felix, who's good enough to fill that 4th spot on the relays? Henderson, Wineberg, Trotter, Hastings and Beard all have relay experience, but somehow, I'm not liking the field after Richards, Felix and Dunn. Trotter hasn't run well in a few years. We'll see what happens with Wineberg when she starts competing again on a regular basis. Beard (as well as McCorory) will probably end up running the prelims if both run well. It's why I picked Lashinda Demus for that 4th spot in 2011.
