    Re: Usain Bolt - 19.93!!!

I said last year this guy is going to win in Athens. All that squawking about his long legs going to get so big he won't fit in movie theatres and how he must follow Obea Moore's law of burnout. Obviously not reconsidering my notion he will be the man to break the WR even though it was set by the male Flojo (flashy shoes he couldn't do the fingernails).

Just out of interest, anyone know who Usain's coach and/or agent is...?

Yes, absolutely right... he set the old MR of 20,43 at the 32rd Carifta Games in Bermuda 2003-04-21, and tied the old WJR of 20,13 in 2003.

        1 Bolt, Usain Jamaica 19.93 1.4
        2 Bailey, Daniel Antigua & Barbuda 21.07 1.4
        3 Carter, Nestar Jamaica 21.10 1.4
        4 Ifill, Grafton Bahamas 21.14 1.4
        5 Mitchell, Jacobi Bahamas 21.30 1.4
        6 Gittens, Ramon Barbados 21.48 1.4
        7 Yearwood, Kristian Barbados 22.02 1.4
        8 Bushay, Casnel St. Vincent 22.11 1.4

          Bolt's coach is Dwight Barnett.

Just read elsewhere that it's Fitz Coleman....?!

(above article is more recent, which leads me to believe that it is Fitz.)

Looks like his manager is Norm Peart... can anyone confirm this...?

Excellent! I'll still pick Gatlin in Athens - more due to Gatlin's proven 100 speed and overall strength. If Mo had even trained for the 200, he would have been The Guy after MJ.

Yes, your link is more recent so I'd agree with you.

In the article I linked, it gave Barnett credit for finding Bolt and developing him in what was his 1st coaching job.

                Your link states,

"Coleman, who is one of two coaches assigned to the IAAF High Performance Training Centre (HPTC) based at the University of Technology, and in charge of 400-metre runners...,"

I'd appreciate if that person with 'inside info' could contact me if they are reading this....

No real inside info, but they could have been more gracious in the way that they changed his coach when they decided that the best plan was to get him into the HPTC. Fitz Coleman is a very cood coach and no doubt will have him well prepard for whatever he does athletics wise. When the press announcement was made of the plan to take him to the HTPC a very tactless comment to the effect that he would now be coached (connoting that he wasn't being coached previously) was made. Understandably his coach felt a bit aggrieved by that statement.

Saw him draped in the Jamaican flag at the end of the race (that's all they showed on the local news). Looked quite winded. Would seem that himself and/or his handlers were definitely going for sub 20. Looked quite winded (as well he should)

Could be that they wanted to get a sub-20 performance out of Usain just to show that he is capable of sub-20. Now that they've got it out of the way (and the rest of the world will likely take notice!), then he can begin to focus on the more important things for this year.

That's not the point. Care to remind me how many guys ran sub-20 last year...???
