I had friends with seats in that area. It was great because organizers had tons of seats there reserved for athletes or whomever to hang out instead of selling them all to fans. Since those seats were only randomly and sporadically filled, there was lots of extra space for paying customers to spread out, as opposed to the sardine-like accommodations closer to the finish line where I was at.

Not sure if I am a friend or foe but that is where we were-fantastic seats!

We had a lot of fun talking to athletes and our seatmates were awesome. Actually met a woman as crazy about the sport as I am. We would both arrive super early and get all teary as we rhapsodized about what we love about track. 8-) Of course that had little to do with the set assignments but it was a blast.
Hubby appreciated all the leg space as well.
Not sure-is it possible to request seats there next time? I would feel gypped sitting anywhere else.

I have seats in section C now ( which I really like) , and also got my "letter". Understand I've been a season ticket holder for over 30 years paying for 4-5 seats. In 2008, I was in section B and got put in Section F-far north end of West grandstands- for the Trials. I got a feeling that for the 2012 Trials in Yogi Berra's phrase, it will be " like deja-vu, all over again"

O.K., so I am feeling a little sorry for myself. :P Kind of like I was expecting lobster, and I only got steak.
Well, I got put in section E, row 17 for the 2012 Trials.

As a matter of fact I have two seats I will sell to a good home at face. PM me if interested.

Hey Marlow, I'm in C, row 12. Strangely (or not), I decided to take no chances this time (see my original post) and I went online the second seats went on sale. This time, my season seats were moved from A19 to C25, but I opted to go with the C12 seats I grabbed online. At least I would have been happy with A19 to C25 (vs Siberia), but I'm happier now with C12 and a little StubHub action. Didn't go into this with any intent to profit, but I wasn't going to walk away from it either.

C is great. Seats 5,6,7 give you a straight look down on the take off board for the LJ. Morning sun until 11 or so. Also good look at the shot put. So you've got that going for you, which is nice. 8-)
