I always forget poor Tim D, forever resigned to being a Trivial Pursuit answer. Name the NOT-famous guy who broke 4 minutes in HS.

Yup. It's in Jack Shepard's HS Annual, on sale thru T&FN, I believe.
I have to buy this list?

Many good high school milers don't run much/any indoors.

According to my records a total of 625 high school boys had broken 4:10 for 1600m or the equivalent 4:11.46 for Mile (indoors & outdoors) through 2010. About 58% of those came from the top 7 "miler states". The breakdown:

147 California - no official indoor season and not many opportunities
44 Illinois - no official indoor state meet
        36 New York
36 Washington - no official indoor season
32 Texas - no indoor season; outdoor season starts in February
        31 New Jersey
31 Oregon - no official indoor season

Admittedly a rarely run race, the indoor 5000 HSR was his 14:18 from 2 years ago, but now it's his 14:06.78 from the NB meet yesterday.

              so verbicas is 18 now

how many 18 year old americans have gone under 4..

still lacks the big burst for mile, 5k seems more his distance

what'd webb do 3:53 as hs er

add se see how he's prgressed, fast times, mile and 800, but tactical problesm racing at times

Ed, this deserves its own thread, I think. Is more known? Is this the right TD; he is the right age, locale etc.

I was watching video of Webb's 3:53.43 high school mile record on youtbube. Bernard Legat was in that race. And he was also in the 2-mile race, which he won, where LV broke the 2-mile high school record! I guess Legat is some short of "lucky charm:
