  • has this ever happened in a collegiate meet?

Barton County's Steve Mullings went 9.96w/19.90w at the TCU Invitational on Saturday in Ft. Worth.

When was the last time a collegian of any ilk did a sub-10/sub-20 one-day double under any conditions? All this was within the span of 2 hours, too...!

Very windy, but very impressive, as he took down Darvis Patton (20.07w) easily.

Sweet. Jamaica's 4x100 looks better and better. Mullings used to beat Asafa Powell when they were in HS out here, so it is good to see him running fast again.

Wind was 3.6 for 100 and 3.8 for 200. The 200 field also included Jabari Fields from TCU and Brendan Christian from Texas. Seems like Jamaica definitely has more than one youngster capable of running very very fast.

Not sure if you're implying that Christian is Jamaican. But for the record, he's not. He's Antiguan.

Nope. Just trying to emphasize with all the buzz around Usain Bolt maybe there should be at least a tiny bit of attention paid to Steve Mullings and that the field included other runners of note besides Darvis Patton.

For what it's worth, note the Big Green Book says a 3.9mps tailinwd adds 0.17 of aid, so the "9.96" is suddenly a wind-zero 10.13.

To further put that in perspective. Contrast that with Maurice Greene's 10.02 INTO a 1.6mps wind and you get the picture.

Very impressive run for April, Mr. Greene.

Incidentally he set a Jamaican HS Championships record of 20.79 in 2002 on the slow G.C. Foster College track where those championships were held. Bolt ran 21.61 at that meet, while complaining of a toe injury
