Who was the 43 year old with the lead back? They had it on at the Y at lunch and someone said something about that.

No position changes after 40K I see. Suggestions that the race be made a nice round metric number obviously make sense. :-)

"Who was the 43 year old with the lead back?"

Kipkemboi (Kenya) who was 7th is listed as 45 yrs old.

Ryzhov (Russia) who was 9th is listed as 44 yrs old.

Good running by the old guys in the heat!

Any relation to Kipkemboi who won the 5,000m in Seoul in 13.11,70?

Ngugi won the 5000m @ Seoul. Kipkemboi Kimeli was third in the 10,000. I remember Joshua Kipkemboi as being a steepler primarily.

Yes, small brain fart...I recall John Ngugi ran a 4.00 or so in the middle of the race to promptly remove himself from the field, and to run a Kenyan theft tactic similar to Peter Rono.

Sooooo sorry Steve my friend. I actually flipped to the Bostom Marathon website and that was the time I saw and I thought for a minute it was for the full distance. So I decided to have a little fun my pulling the same joke on the board.

                      All in good fun though.

I agree ! It WAS a cool joke ! We need more levity on this board sometimes.

Did I miss all the chat about the Boston women on another thread or what? I can't believe people on this board aren't going crazy about that fantastic women's race. That was mighty riveting. It seemed like Ndereba was in control, judging by the look on Alemu's face, but you never can tell -- I've seen runners who looked like they were about to have a stroke suddenly whip out a vicious kick.

Any predections out there on the Athens women? Is Radcliffe running 26 or 10? And if it's the former, can Ndereba beat her?

And I think Ndereba's 2:24 is quite superior to Okayo's 2:22 in London.

A couple of days ago Radcliffe stated she was definitely doing the marathon in Athens, and was still unsure about whether to do the 10000 as well.

Given her injury problems, she would do well to just focus on one race.
