High School Girls' 4x800 Large Schools
            Event 105 Thursday 10:50 AM
            Watch Video
            Results
            PL School/Affiliation Mark Athletes ID
1 St. Anthony's (South Huntington, NY) 9:10.74 Lauren Fontana (2:16.8), Danielle Cornell (2:19.8), Sloan Russ (2:24.2), Olicia Williams (2:09.9) CA
2 Hunterdon Central (Flemington, NJ) 9:12.20 Allison Payenski (2:18.4), Kaitlyn Bedard (2:19.3), Ashley Ward (2:19.2), Kat Vodopia (2:15.3) CC
3 Neptune (Neptune, NJ) 9:16.07 Ishamira Swain (2:28.0), Brietta Wilson (2:23.8), Alee Wilson (2:03.4), Ishakeema Swain (2:20.9)

3rd of 4 heats. Her name is misspelled, but nonetheless, I think Ajee's split may be the fastest HS split in Penn Relays history. Her team obviously won't win (Edwin Allen of JA ran 8:57.98 in the 4th heat), but what are the chances that she can sneak in under 2:00.0?

About 60% if she is the anchor, 30% if not.

They'd better move Ajee to the anchor leg, because I don't think Ishakeema will go much faster than 2:15. Let Ajee run down everyone in front of her. She'll probably have 8 girls to chase, and if she doesn't have to swing wide to the 2nd lane too often, she might just sneak in for 1:59.x.

That was exactly the formula in their sprint medley win at New Balance Nationals last June, where she just missed going under 2:00.

The anchor for the winner sure motored.
                          Ristananna Tracey (2:03.17)

I wonder what US college she will end up at.

2:11.3. I was hoping they'd switch legs for her to run anchor. I haven't seen any video footage, but I'll bet my horse money that she got tied up in traffic on that 3rd leg. Then again, 2 highly-charged races with that much pressure and a possible 1:59.x on the line was probably too much for her. She won't have any jitters like this in June.

I forgot about Inez Turner's 2:03.2 back in '91. Obviously Ajee's 2:03.4 is the fastest ever on a U.S. HS team.

Probably went out too fast trying to make up ground and faded.
