The Hammer Throw started the action on Saturday (all other events are on Sunday, May 1).
Trey Henderson of USC won, as projected, but he had to fight for it with hard-charging UCLA Freshman Alec Faldermeyer throwing a 10-foot PR (218-5; 66.58). USC leads 6-3 in a meet projected to be about 14-17 point win for UCLA.
On the women's side, another UCLA Frosh, Ida Storm threw a PR 206', but more importantly, upset the formchart in beating TF&N's #8 ranked Marissa Minderler and finishing second to #6 Orozai (who had a big SB of 212-3; 64.70m). Ida Storm picked up a crucial 3 points (and a four-point swing) in a meet originally projected to be won by the USC women 83-80.
