  • Bershawn Jackson #1 in the world

He is only 19 and ran 48.51 blowing pass James Carter(49.9), so what does this kid future look like. Should he finish school or go pro?

Maybe the question should be, "should he start school first?" I heard that after he couldn't get into South Carolina he's not at school at all. Can anybody confirm that?

Actually, turned 20 on May 8 (hooray, hooray....). But an incredible talent nonetheless!

The 400H not the greatest event to turn pro in. Unlike the 100 or the mile, no guarantee there'll be enough meets on the Euro Circuit to make your budget, unless you're a confirmed world-beater.

I know that he is running unattached or GWE, but he goes to St. Aug, so he is training under George Williams, the olympic head coach

That's significant news: means he's a Junior this year and is now No. 2 on the all-time World Junior List.

Great, duelling anonymi! Or are you the same one simply reversing your course?

He may not be a junior, bt Ken Ferguson was born in '84, and he ran a meager 48.79, and 13.53 this weekend. Not too shabby. US Hurdling future is in good shape.

I agree, there is a lot of talent that is out there, but they will never be exposed because they don't have the opportunity to show themselves. Such as for Jackson, but I believe he will be soon. Patience, will always pay off.

Re: Bershawn Jackson #1 in the world

T&FN has confirmed that Jackson did indeed just turn19, not 20, so is a Junior. Ferguson is also a Junior.

Imagine had Jackson gotten into South Carolina and they were paired this year.

Re: Bershawn Jackson #1 in the world

i saw their names and times in t&f news results last week and vaguely remembered that they had represented the us in the world junior championships last year and finished 2nd and 3rd behind a south african athlete. Even since last year thet have improved by a second and they are only 19 ! the main question would be if they can challenge harris' world junior record, that was set the year they were born ! also if they can sneak in and make the team for the world since no us runner has even approach 48 secs this year.
