INDIANAPOLIS – Curt Clausen, Tim Seaman, Susan Armenta and Philip Dunn will lead Team USA at the 21st IAAF World Race Walking Cup May 1-2 in Naumburg, Germany.

More than 350 athletes are set to compete at the event which features elite competitions over 20 km (men & women) and 50 km (men only). For the first time in history, there will also be 10 km competitions for junior men and women.

Team USA will be led by two-time Olympian and 1999 World Outdoor Championships 50 km bronze medalist Curt Clausen, who won the 2004 U.S. Olympic 50 km Race Walk Trials on February 15 to qualify for his third Olympic Team. Clausen will compete in the 20 km race at Naumburg.

Joining Clausen on the U.S. men’s squad is 2000 Olympian Philip Dunn, who qualified for the 2004 Olympic Team by placing third at the 50 km Trials and bettering the Olympic “A” qualifying standard by finishing in 3 hours, 59 minutes, 12 seconds at a race in Tijuana on March 23.

Also look for American record holder and three-time U.S. 20 km champion Tim Seaman to compete in Naumburg. A seven-time U.S. Indoor champion, Seaman will enter the 2004 20 km Olympic Trials in July as the defending champion. He placed 40th in that event at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

The American record holder at 50 km, Susan Armenta returns to lead the Team USA’s women’s squad after competing at the IAAF Race Walking Cup in 1999 and 2002.
