Jon's excuse for GBR women's sprinting was the presence of a strong drug testing program. What is the explanation for French Sprinting?

Lastly, Jimmy Vicaut. 10.16 at 18 years old...you have to take notice of that. But, he could run 10.02 in 2011, or he might run 10.36. I'm an optimist, lets throw him in Tier-3 with a 10.02.

Vicaut is even better this year, so is Lemaitre, hopefully France will get a very good relay team.

Vicaut already has senior experience. He lead off the French team in Barcelona.

That sort of effort would likely have gotten him a sub-10 with even a minor tailwind 1/2 mps or above.

Yes, it is jinxing him! The idea that once an athlete breaks 10 that there is a steady procession to sub-9.80 is a by product of having 3 SUPREME sprinters in the last 6 years! But it doesn't work like that! Of the current crop of sprinters it wouldn't surprise me if not a single new entrant was added to sub-9.80 crew in the next 10 years. Additionally, if an athlete DOESN'T break 9.80 they are STILL exceptional. Sub-10 is NOT sub-4, believe it or not it still means something!

Vicaut is no surprise as he ran as a junior on the senior team last season, but let's hold back a little in speculating about a 9.7x in his future...the last few years have really spoiled us.
