Farah wins, Lagat gets the AR... everybody happy? (Except Solinsky that is.)

Mr. Rupp, who again fell in a fast European 5000M, is likely not happy, either.

What happened to Solinsky? No 4K time on the Website, but:

            2:33.5
            5:08.4 (2.34.9)
            7:47.2 (2:38.8)
            ???????????????????
            12:53.2 (5:06.0)

Little Bekele back under 13. Mottram regressed a bit.
            Cheers,

              4K - 10:27.33 (2:40.16)

I think Solinsky collided with Rupp and (subsequently) an infield bush?

Wasn't really impressed with Farah's double at Euros - weak competition. But this was a very fine run, and he must be taken very seriously at WC.

                  I think Merga fouled Solinsky . . .

Well, Rupp and Merga could pass for identical twins.

So, can someone explain what happened for those of us who did not see it? With Bekele (K) apparently only running the 10,00, Mo is like the favorite and Lagat right there.

Whoops! I missed the inner scroll bar. Kipchoge was leading at 4K.
As I posted a couple of days ago, kilos 3-4 are crucial to sub-12:50, which continues to elude them.

The announcers said Rupp got tripped 3 or 4 laps from the finish is my guess. With 2 laps to go, Solinsky was right near the front and looked very good. It looked like he was shoved and went hard out of bounds into a bush and lost all momentum and had no chance to get back in the race. I think he would likely have been competitive into that final sprint. He looked very strong to me.

                              Re: DL Monaco- M 5000m

Just re-watched it in slo-mo on the internet replay...at the 10:55 mark with about 40m to the curve on the home stretch, Merga is running outside lane 1 with Solinsky on the rail just off his shoulder. Merga moves in (foolishly, IMO) and Solinsky plants a hand in his back as he is tripped, sending Merga forward. Solinsky (perhaps foolishly) moves right up to try to take his place on the rail back (by this time they are at the start/finish line) and runs up on Merga, tripping himself and sending himself off into the greenery, unable to recover. Merga came out unscathed.

I never saw what happened to Rupp, but it's a damn shame that Solinsky couldn't finish.
