  • UK Trials July 29th -31st

For the first time in years i'm actually going to go the the UK trials. It is usually really boring, with no real competish as few people have the QT.

Now before certain people start i am well aware that there are significant weakness in UK athletics and most competitors won't end up on the medal rostrum. There are also some suprising events that will have great competition for places in Daegu this year as well

Who would have thought we'd have 5 men with the A/B standard for the DT ? who knows what's going to happen in the day or who will end up on the plane

We have 8 with (the admittedly low) A standard for mens 200m

Womens 1500 and 400m will be great races

    Men's LJ a great competish

As will mens 400h with 8 under 50 (apparently David Green is doing flat so there is no room for error for everyone else over the hurdles)

Holly and Sophie will be going for more Uk records

Can Jess get close the Tiffany over hurdles

can any of our female sprinters repeat the times they've run in europe this year

Hey it's not the USATF Trials but we don't have such delusions and have to be thankful for small mercies
    i deserve extra credit

They'll certainly be some good competitions for spectators - like you say, not the creme de la creme in standards, but close enough to hopefully get people enjoying the action.

On a tangent, did you see my link re the Indian w4x400m on AW? I know it's close to your heart (in every way, sadly )

I'm really looking forward to going.

There's some really competitive events. It hasn't really been like this since the late 90's.

          Gonna be great.

I won't be going (lack of funds), but I'm really looking forward to watching the action. There are some really fascinating comps where who's going to be on the team is completely unknown. And quite a lot of our best are turning up.

The only thing that would make it better would be Paula turning up to do the women's 10,000.

I know the real reason that mump wants to go rather than watch it on TV. To avoid hearing and seeing that ghastly excrescence on the backside of athletics BBC coverage.... Colin J.( managed to get himself on TV yesterday for the 1 year to go junket)

Do the Beeb do it deliberately???

All of them? :P Seriously, a lot of them could go if things do not get too tactical in the 800+ range.

I agree many will be beaten - and I think the 800m and 1500m won't be too tactical, because there's too much competition - several B standard-holders need a fast race here to get on the plane and get above other B holders

I saw Shanna Cox about 9:30 this morning jogging up and down Broad St (should I have put "as you do" like last time so you could all be horrid to me? :P )

It's the first time I've seen her in the flesh. She's very attractive and much taller and leaner than she looks on screen. I thought she would be quite dumpy, but she's not at all, she looks fab! Oh, and she was getting quite a few wolf whistles from rough Brummie bus and cab drivers!
