Pat Gildea, who I believe ran distance for Tennessee, will be a guest on Tony Basilio's sports talk show sometime today. The show airs from 11 am to 2 pm eastern time. You can hear the show at the link above. Pretty sure Gildea is a crony of George Watts, so take what he says with a grain of salt.
Edit: The show will be archived on the above website later on today. Gildea appeared in the first hour of the show.
Edit II: Tony's blog today has a letter from a former UT track athlete named "John." He mentions that former UT AD Doug Dickey was a track fan and I can confirm this. Bob Woodruff was also a track fan, despite the half track fiasco. Johnny Majors was a frequent visitor to Tom Black Track. In fact his son was a vaulter for the Vols. There is also a picture that frequently appears in the press guide showing former football coach Gen. Neyland at a track meet. Vols have had many important people who've loved the program through the years and hopefully we'll have another one as AD soon.
